My Review:

Akio is a young man who just wants to make it through high school, survive an abusive alcoholic father and guys who bully him because he is gay. Akio tries to stay out of their way but that is kind of impossible when you go to the same school and they are always on the lookout for him so it would seem. Akio has to hide who his from everyone because of the new law that was passed a while back called the Deviant act. The Deviant act is a law that states if anyone of the same sex is caught looking at each other in a certain way, kissing or just a touch then said person or persons will be shot on site.

After Akio is attacked so many times by this group of guys Brandon finally steps in and tries to help Akio by telling his friends to leave him alone but just this one little act could cost Brandon so much. But Brandon really likes Akio and wants to help him. But when Akio and Brandon are caught by Akio’s father Brandon runs and leaves Akio to deal with his father.

Akio’s father jumps on Akio and calls the law so Akio has no choice but to leave. He gets lucky when he meets Tina and Chase and they take him to Taylor who is the leader of the Under Ground. Living with the Under Grounders will keep Akio safe and he won’t have to hide who he is anymore. For once his life Akio can finally be happy and hopefully find someone that he can love and can love him back.

So far I have loved every book in the Under Ground series that I have read and can’t wait to read more. I love the world that has been created for the Under Grounders. Now I have read both Akio and Terrance’s stories and can’t wait to read everyone else’s story as well. I have also read Under Ground book #1 and Standing Ground book #2 and hope to read every story in the Under Ground series. I love me some dystopia books. I read about the worlds that authors create and learning how people survive in those worlds.

If you have not read Akio’s story than I would like to suggest that you do it is one of the most amazing stories written.
